Visual Team Rota & Shift Management
Day-at-a-glance rota for your people — shifts, leave, and who's on all week, in one beautiful phone-native view.
The rota is built for people. Only you and your team members appear — not vehicles, stations, or kennel blocks (those are resources for scheduling purposes, not rota participants).
The layout is day-at-a-glance, not a dense horizontal grid. A Monday-first day strip runs across the top — tap any day to load that day's detail panel, which shows a shift card per staff member. Each card has the person's name, their published hours, and any bookings assigned to them that day. Below the detail panel, a compact "Who's on this week" grid shows every team member as a row with seven day columns: a coloured bar for a working day, a palm-tree emoji for approved leave, and a faint dot for a day off. The whole week fits on screen without scrolling.
When a leave request has been approved, the rota shows it automatically. Instead of an empty "Add shift" slot, that day shows an amber "On leave" row for that person — with the leave reason if one was given. No hunting through a separate leave screen to understand who's available. The rota tells you.
Shift times are set with stylish, tappable pills — big enough to hit easily with a thumb. Tapping one opens the native wheel picker with 5-minute intervals in 24-hour format. No keyboard, no manual typing, no chance of a typo that creates an impossible shift.
Each team member has one or more shift templates — recurring patterns like "Sarah works Monday–Friday 09:00–17:00". Open next week's rota, tap Apply Template, and every matching day materialises as a draft shift. Tap any individual shift to change the times, add a note, or cancel it for that week only — the template keeps its shape.
The Publish Week button is colour-coded so you always know where you stand: grey when nothing is pending, amber when there are drafts or edits to push out, green when everything is live and unchanged. The publish confirmation modal counts only human staff — not vehicles or stations — so "3 staff will be notified" means exactly 3 people. Confirm, and one push per affected team member fires out at once. No spam when you're wrangling a busy week.
Team members with the full-rota permission see everyone. Those without it see only their own shifts via the dedicated My Schedule view. Editing shifts is separately gated, so junior staff can see the rota without being able to touch it.
